Local & Regional Authors

Congratulations on the publication of your book! We are proud to support local, regional, and hometown authors. Through our consignment program, we are able to carry a wide variety of self-published and small press titles we wouldn’t normally be able to stock. If you are interested in having us carry your book, please review the following guidelines to help understand the process.

How to apply

  1. Read and submit the consignment agreement. Please submit one application for each title.

  2. We’ll review your application and get back to you. If we decide your book is a good fit for our store, we’ll have you sign our consignment agreement and get your book on the shelf.

Book requirements

  1. The book must have an ISBN

  2. The book must be professionally printed and bound (spiral binding is not eligible)

  3. The book title and author must be printed on the cover and spine. Not all of our books are able to face out, and customers are highly unlikely to purchase books with blank spines.

  4. Your book needs to be comparably priced to other titles of its size and genre.

Terms

  1. Consignment periods last for 6 months at a time, so we can rotate in and feature new local authors. Renewal is a possibility at our discretion.

  2. Books will be shelved in the Local Authors section or other relevant sections of the store at the discretion of West Main Coffee Company. Books may be listed on our website and promoted on social media at our discretion.

  3. We will accept 3 copies of your book and reach out for restock when applicable.

  4. Authors can check sales of their books by getting in touch with us via email.

  5. Upon request, or at the end of the consignment term, West Main Coffee Company will distribute 60% of sales to the author. The remaining 40% will be retained by West Main Coffee Company, consistent with industry standards.

  6. At the end of the consignment term, unsold copies will be returned to the author, and this agreement will end. This agreement may be extended by mutual agreement of the author and West Main Coffee Company.

  7. While your books will be treated the same as our professionally published books, and every effort will be made to prevent loss, West Main Coffee Company is not responsible for lost or damaged books.

  8. If submitting authors are interested in scheduling a special event during their consignment period, they should please indicate this in their application. They should also be able to supply additional copies of their book for the event.
