West Main Coffee & Books is a local bookshop and cafe serving Toulon, Illinois, established in 2023.

Payton and Michael are a husband-and-wife team dedicated to building a better community. Their bookstore cafe is a place to grab a bite to eat or catch up over coffee, shop for gifts, or find new friends or start a new hobby at one of the many events hosted at West Main Coffee & Books.

While Michael is the backbone of the business, Payton is the lifeblood.

In 2026, they received an Amex/Main Street America grant that allowed them to renovate the shop, make much-needed upgrades, and offer cafe-style breakfast and lunch.

Though they still have a long way to go in crafting their vision, they know they make a great team, have great employees, and are excited to serve their community.

The future looks bright in little old Toulon, Illinois.
