Mark Liebenow will be reading excerpts from his book "Mountains of Light: Seasons of Reflection in Yosemite". Copies of the book will be available for sale and for signing. Marcia Henry Liebenow, a talented musician, will be playing a selection of classical string music to wrap up the afternoon.
About our Guests:
Mark Liebenow writes about nature, prostate cancer, grief, and the wisdom of fools. The author of four books, his essays, poems, and critical reviews have been published in many literary and medical journals. One of his essays was named a notable by Best American Essays, and he has been nominated for five Puschart Prizes. He posts weekly on his Substack account, Dissolving Mountains, about cancer. His account of hiking in Yosemite to deal with his first wife's death, Mountains of Light, was published by the University of Nebrasks Press. He studied English at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and creative nonfiction at Bradley University.
Marcia Henry Liebenow, Concertmaster of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, is professor of Violin, Viola, and Chamber Music at Bradley University. She is in demand as a recitalist, chamber musician, soloist, and highly regarded as a teacher. She has performed with orchestras in Europe and throughout the United States, including performances of Shirish Korde's Svara-Yantra Concerto for Violin, Tabla, and Orchestra. Her chamber music performances have been broadcast nationally on American Public Media's Performance Today. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, she has three CDs on the Centaur label.
